LOCAL PREVENTION AND SECURITY PLAN IS SIGNED IN TURKEY’S THIRD LARGEST DISTRICT ŞAHİNBEY

Şahinbey Prevention and Security Commission, successfully completed the local security analysis and action plans stages and it became the second pilot district to sign the Local Prevention and Security Plan.
Plan is signed by all stakeholders
Under the chairmanship of District Governor Mr. Uğur Turan, the Plan was signed by all stakeholders, which included the representatives of internal security forces, relevant state institutions, municipalities, City Assemblies, Chambers, NGOs, and Mukhtars, and with the participation of project officials, on February 6, 2014.
Plan includes 8 objectives and 18 action plans
The Commission members agreed on prioritizing the following local security problems: Drug addiction and juvenile crimes, House and workplace burglary, smuggling, criminalized and victimized children, traffic, domestic violence, rehabilitation of convicted released from prison and Syrian guests. The Plan included 8 local security objectives and 18 action plans on the abovementioned local security priorities to be implemented in three years.
As a result of extensive preparations
Şahinbey Prevention and Security Commission was established on 30 April 2013 and has convened four times as of January 2013. Prior to the signing of the plan, 31 one-to-one meetings, 4 Commission meetings, 6 operational secretariat and 3 focus group meetings were held with the stakeholders in Gaziantep and Şahinbey.
Stakeholder commitment: Road to success
The stakeholders perceive the Local Prevention and Security Plan as an opportunity to be more responsive to local needs and also for all parties to fulfill their own responsibilities in a more coordinated way. In this manner, consultation with civil society and ownership and commitments of all stakeholders has proved very important for success.
