THE LISBON STUDY VISIT
Within the scope of the Improvement of Civilian Oversight of the Internal Security Sector (ICOISS) Phase II project, a study tour to Portugal was organized on 22-27 May 2013 with the participation a delegation headed by the Deputy Under Secretary of State for Internal Affairs, Aziz Yıldırım, senior officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as members of the Turkish Parliament.
The objective of the study visit was to share the information and experiences in terms of parliamentary oversight within the Portuguese internal security system.
The meetings were realized with the Council for the Oversight of the Intelligence System of the Portuguese Republic and the Committee for Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees. The participants of the study visit deepen the knowledge about the Portuguese internal security system, as well as its evolution since the transition to democracy, almost 40 years ago.
